Hello, my name is Katelyn Finch. I am 16 years old. I started Dragon boat in 2021 with the Lambton Shores Dragon Boat Club during the winter at pool practises. I practised all through the winter and summer of 2022 was my first official year of racing. I quickly found out that I had a passion for paddling. At the end of the summer I decided I would try out for Team Canada. I started training in September, going to my coaches houses and paddling on a Paddle-erg. Over the last 9 months I have been training hard and have seen lots of improvements. I can finally say that all my hard work has came out to one huge success. I officially got the call on May 24th that I would be representing Team Canada for the U18 National Team at the World Championships in Thailand this summer!! I have a short 2 months ahead of me before we head off on our journey, with that being said, I have lots of fundraising to do and a lot more training. All the money that is raised will be going towards plane tickets, hotels, and jerseys. I would not be where I am today without the help and support of my coaches, family and friends.
