Our sister, Katelyn, was taken by ambulance to the hospital and immediately placed in the ICU on Wednesday, September 29th after being discharged from a nearby emergency room on two different occasions last weekend. Currently, she has been diagnosed with pneumonia, strep throat, and sepsis. For those that may not realize, we lost our dad to sepsis 4.5 months ago, so to revisit this again is unimaginable. Due to sepsis, her kidneys have also shut down, and she is currently receiving dialysis treatments which may be temporary or long-term. Additionally, tests are being performed daily as her platelets levels continue to rapidly decline with no known reason even after platelet transfusions. At this point, the road to recovery will be tedious and arduous. Katie has been a champ so far, even in a weakened state. We know she is scared and with limited visiting hours and strict rules at the hospital, access to physically be there with her poses its own challenges. There are so many unknowns at this point. Please consider donating to help reduce the costs and stress of medical bills when she does leave the hospital. We know she will be so appreciative.
