With the heaviest hearts, our Cedar Key community is mourning the tragic and sudden loss of Katelyn Allen, who passed away recently.
Katelyn was so many things to so many people. As a huge part of Pelican Vacation Home, she was a vital and cherished part of our team, a friend, and a friendly face who brought care and dedication to her work. But her roots in this town went so much deeper.
Katelyn was a proud military veteran, and she carried that sense of service and community with her every day. As a Cedar Key local, it felt like Katelyn knew everyone—and everyone knew her. She was not only a neighbor but also a relative to many, and her connections ran through nearly every family in town. Her ability to bring people together, offer a helping hand, and make everyone feel welcome was unmatched.
Whether it was a community event like Halloween, a local gathering, or just a walk downtown, Katelyn’s presence was felt and her absence now leaves a profound silence in our small community.
Katelyn’s greatest love and proudest accomplishment was her family. She leaves behind her girlfriend and her teenage daughter, who are now navigating an unimaginable world without their beloved partner and mother.
Her circle of love was wide and fierce. She had so many friends that she fought to be with as often as possible, despite numerous chronic health issues. Katelyn was happiest when spending time with these people, who weren’t like family—they WERE family to her!
She loved sharing her passions, like going out on sharktooth hunting adventures. And when the sharks didn’t want to give up their ancient treasures, she went after arrowheads. She would be cheering the loudest at her daughter’s sports games. These adventures, whether big or small, were made even sweeter by sharing them with these very same loved ones.
Her energy and love for life touched everyone she met, and her laughter and encouragement will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Her mother Joanne, stepfather Chad, girlfriend Cinnamon, daughter Paisley, all her family and friends, and everyone in Cedar Key will sorely miss her presence.
This fund has been created to help Katelyn’s family with the immediate and overwhelming costs of a funeral and memorial service. As they face the challenges of becoming a one-income household, your support will also help provide a cushion for daily living expenses, therapy, and future needs for her daughter.
Any donation, no matter the size, is a tremendous help. If you are unable to donate, please consider sharing this fundraiser and keeping Katelyn’s family in your thoughts.
Thank you for wrapping your arms around them during this difficult time.
