Katelin’s Road to Recovery

Hi, on 08/06/2025 at 9am, my daughter, the biggest animal lover you will ever meet, was mauled unprovoked, almost to death by a dog in the streets. She was rushed by ambulance to RWJ Trauma Center where they spent several hours stabilizing her. Her life has changed forever; she will never get to work doing the one thing she loved, and she will never look the same. Thankfully, the surgeons and the whole team were able to reconstruct her face and save most of the parts that were mauled off.

In the upcoming months, she will need plastic surgery and multiple surgeries to recover properly. She has been left unable to speak, unable to eat, and unable to do any of her daily activities and relies heavily on family to take care of her. With this being said, we are all missing days of work to be able to provide her 24/7 care. The next month to a year will be the most challenging for her. Thankfully, she has private insurance, but unfortunately, it will not cover past a certain amount. Every bill and medical expense falls on her back for the time being until the case is presented to a judge. The State of NJ has taken the dog, in hopes of euthanasia after court.

While we are thankful that she is alive, the situation will eventually cause a financial strain for her and our family. She has the biggest support system, and we know she will pull through. If you know her personally, she would always go the extra mile for anybody and any pet regardless of size or breed. Today, we ask that you share this even if you cannot help.
