Kate Vinson's fight continues in Houston!

One year ago today, a tribe came together to support one of their own, the amazing, beautiful, Kate Vinson! Today, she needs our help more than ever.
A little backstory about Kate's battle with colon cancer. In November 2023, a mass was discovered in her colon. In February 2024, Kate had a colonoscopy and in March 2024, at the young age of 47, she was diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer. Over the past year, Kate has undergone numerous rounds of chemotherapy, starting out with Folfox. She later underwent a colon resection as the result of a blockage. When she was scanned 2 months ago, the tumors were growing; therefore, her doctors decided to remove the Folfox and move forward with Lonsurf. Today, they discovered that the Lonsurf is not working and her tumors have continued to grow. Kate has the KRAS G12D mutation, which is one of the most aggressive mutations with colon cancer. Her options at this point are a third chemotherapy or a clinical trial that focuses on the KRAS G12D mutation.
The family has made the decision to move forward with the clinical trial. With that decision come an array of additional expenses, outside of those already incurred by countless medical bills, 5 trips to MD Anderson, and loss of wages from work. Additional expenses will include Kate needing to live in Houston, TX for 4-5 months, additional travel expenses for family and friends to stay with her during her time in Houston, and continued medical expenses. Along with these expenses, Kate and Lin have 3 children combined, who are all in their college years. Her youngest, Logan Trout, is due to graduate from high school next month.
Even though she has been going through this courageous battle for the last 12 months, Kate has remained a positive force of nature and a good friend to all. Even on her worst days, she is lifting others up!
To say this has been a stressful year would be an understatement, but if we can all help just a little bit to ease one of those stressors, it would mean a lot. If you are able to donate anything to help this amazing woman who means so much to all of us, it would go a long way to helping the family get through these tough times!
