Dear GoFundMe community:
On the eve of Valentine's day, on her birthday, Kate, a single mama of a 3 year old girl, went to the emergency room with an awful cough that was steadily getting worse.
We are trying to raise enough money to cover the basic living expenses, at least three months: rent, bills, food, etc, for our friend Kate who is very ill and has been hospitalized.
She was having difficulties breathing, and no, her symptoms were not COVID related. Her chest X-rays uncovered blood clots in her lungs and swelling around her heart. She was lucky to be alive.
She was diagnosed with a pulmonary embolism, blood clots In her left lung, which has caused a pericardium effusion, swelling around the heart. She also has swollen lymph nodes along the sternum which the Dr’s do not know why they are there or whether the clots were caused by an infectious disease or cancer; but, she is being tested for a huge variety of possible viruses and bacteria.

Now her heart rate has to be closely monitored as it shoots up quickly when she is stressed, and all of this is very stressful and overwhelming.
We do not know how much longer she will need to be in the hospital. But we do know that it’s going to be very challenging to do all of the work that she does to care of her daughter as well as look after herself.
We come to request your help to make her life a little bit easier as she cannot work due to her health condition.

We always say that it takes a village to raise a child, and in this case, it takes a village to help a single mama and her child.
We just want to make it easier for her to heal.
We thank you enormously for your support.
Friends of Kate.
