Kate Hall Needs Your Help

Hi, I’m Kathleen Moore, a friend of both Kate and Ken Hall. Ken has given his consent for me to set up this GoFundMe account to help him and Kate out during a very difficult time.

On Saturday, May 13th, Kate was found unresponsive on the floor of her bedroom. She was transported to Essentia Health in Virginia, MN and then to Essentia Health – St. Mary’s Hospital in Duluth where she remains. She’d suffered two small strokes and one larger one.

At first she was unresponsive, but today, two weeks later there are many signs of hope.

As a doctor told Ken, “This is a marathon, not a sprint.” In other words, this is going to be a long haul for Kate. She lived in New Mexico and you can imagine the costs involved in covering the expenses of her deceased mother’s home (where Kate is living now in Minnesota). Transportation and food costs for Ken while he’s with Kate every day at the hospital are piling up.

Kate is receiving good care from her doctors, nurses, and her physical and occupational therapists. Her right side is still unresponsive and she cannot talk though she is showing signs that she’s trying. Her eyesight is not focused, though her eyes are open more often now. She has had some soft foods so she is beginning to eat but her nutrition is being supplemented through a port in her stomach.

With great reluctance, Ken is asking for your help because the legal fees to straighten out some of Kate’s affairs , the transportation costs and the covering of Kate’s additional expenses that lie outside of her medical care are mounting. This is hard for Ken, but I’m glad he’s consented to let you help. He described these challenges as “minefields” not knowing what financial challenges are ahead for Kate who cannot consent to anything and for he, who has to legally deal with Kate’s circumstances.

Thank you in advance for any and all help you can lend to Kate and Ken. All monies will go to Ken to take care of Kate and her legal and other affairs.
