Kate Fitzpatrick & Family - Support Crew
Donation protected
Well, I can’t believe I am writing this, which I suppose is the same sentiment shared by those creating a GoFundMe.
In December last year, a few days after her 36th birthday, Kate was diagnosed with triple positive breast cancer, an aggressive form of cancer.
The last two months have been a whirlwind of information, treatment plans, tests and surgeries for Kate and her family - not to mention her chemotherapy treatment, which has started fast and strong.
During all of this, Kate and Huw have been trying to hold onto normal life as much as possible - like getting Pip to her first day of Kindy and celebrating Ollie’s first birthday – but unfortunately the curveballs keep coming. Since starting treatment, Kate has had two unexpected trips to emergency due to chemo complications resulting in lengthy hospital stays, which has also meant that Huwy has had to stop working.
Since sharing her news, Kate and Huwy have been humbled by the overwhelming kindness of everyone wanting to help. Kate is especially proud of the money that has been raised for the National Breast Cancer Foundation.
As anyone who knows Kate and Huwy know, they are the last people to reach out and ask for help yet are the first people there to offer it. This has been clear with how many people have wanted to show their love and support – so this is why this GoFundMe has been created. This isn’t a fundraiser, but a place that we can direct people who wish to help the Fitz’s but don’t know how.
If you asked Kate how you could help, she would tell you to go get checked and to not ignore any changes in your body, or to donate to charity. But what would really help would be financial support to help lighten their load as they navigate this battle over the coming months.
So in lieu of gifts, flowers and cooked meals - if you wish, you can send your love to Kate and Huw and their family through this page. These funds will be used for any additional support they may need such as childcare or housekeeping – things that will make a significant difference to their day to day lives as Kate continues her treatment.
