Kate Brees Memorial

Kate Brees, beloved friend, colleague, wife, mother, and daughter was recently diagnosed with "AML", Acute Myeloid Leukemia.  Very tragically and suddenly she lost her battle on Friday February 10th, 2017.  Kate was an extraordinary person with a heart of gold and anyone that knew her loved her.  She leaves behind her soul mate, Matt, her beautiful children Brandon, Ethan, and Julie and her amazing stepchildren Chloe and Zach.  Kate always gave 110% to everything she did-for her family, her friends, and her patients.  She was an excellent nurse and everyone she encountered knew they were in the best hands possible.  As a colleague of Kate, I was able to experience first-hand the remarkable person she was when I mentored her in nursing school.  Our paths crossed again when I was lucky enough to work alongside her at Aurora Medical Center Summit.  I knew from the start that she would go far and accomplish amazing things.  Unfortunately, her full potential will be something we can only dream about because she was taken away from us too soon.  Kate will be forever missed and her smile, her humor, her dedication to the nursing profession, and most importantly her family will never be forgotten.

Her death came so unexpectedly and way too soon, but her personality and legacy will live on in the countless people who knew her and will always cherish her memory.  Kate, thank you for all the time we had with you, your memory will live on forever!
