Kat's Nepal Earthquake Relief Fund

Torrential monsoon rains will envelop Nepal’s Himalayas by June 20th. Most villages will be inaccessible with increased risk of landslides. 300 doctors are required in the earthquake impacted regions of the country immediately, according to Nepal’s ministry of health with only 19 doctors applying.
I am a ICU ER nurse by training and I have been providing medical care working with dynamic grassroots youth organizations delivering food and shelter to earthquake affected areas for the last three weeks. Due to the severity of the situation, with few willing to work in these regions, I feel compelled to stay on and help communities in this critical phase post rescue.

Hi, I'm Kat Bogacz from Lafayette, Colorado. I am an ICU/ER nurse and the former director of Upaya's Nomad Medical Clinics. I have been working in Nepal since 2003.
I've been collaborating with several groups including Citta, Ayan and the Buddhist People's Rights Forum Nepal, providing aid in the form of medical camps, food, and shelter. In the last 3 weeks I've been to 8 sites including Sindhupalchowk, Newarkot, Dhading, Gorkha, and Dholakha - each of which have been extremely affected by the earthquakes. Each of our medical camps have treated 50 -250 people with a variety of medical conditions including pneumonia, diarrhea,periobital cellulities, infected wounds as well as chronic conditions such as gerd and osteoarthritis.
We have also been providing trauma relief with massage and homeopathic medicines.
We have been working with Nepali nurses and health care assistants and many of them have lost everything but continue to work on a volunteer basis.
The money raised will support purchase of medicines
including tibetan and homeopathic remedies for trauma relief.
support nepali healthcare workers with small monthly stipends and basic needs such as clothes and personal hygiene items and aide for shelter.
As well as
support for other volunteers, including local
massage therapist, acupunturist , medical assistants
they all have been working tirelessly and need our support.
