Dear friends, family, and kind-hearted individuals,
I hope this message finds you well. I am reaching out to share an important and deeply personal story that has profoundly impacted my life. Recently, Ive been notified that I will have to undergo another threatening facial surgery due to complications from my original tumor removal surgery back in 2022.
This unexpected challenge has changed my world in ways I could never have imagined, and I’m now facing significant medical expenses and recovery costs once again and I am asking my community for prayers and support.
In 2022 I was diagnosed with an aggressive tumor growing in my jaw bone that is classified as a Juvenile Ossifying Fibroma.
Due to its size and aggressive nature of continued growth, this type of tumor spreads rapidly and destroys the bone. Because of the tumor's destructive nature, the only treatment is a complete upper jaw removal.
Upon removal of the tumor a titanium plate was installed along with reconstruction of my upper jaw but has moved out of place and another surgery is necessary. My surgery will tentatively take place in February 2025 and recovery will be a few months long.
The financial burden of medical treatments, ongoing therapy, surgeries, and medications has been overwhelming from the first surgery and will continue following this procedure. In addition to the physical toll, there are many costs associated with this condition that are not covered by insurance, and I need your help to navigate this difficult time.
I’ve started this fundraiser to ask for your support, whether it’s a donation, sharing this campaign with others, or keeping me in your thoughts and prayers. Every donation, no matter the amount, will help me with:
- Medical procedures or treatments
- Medications or therapy
- Living expenses
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for taking the time to read my story and for any support you can offer. Your generosity gives me hope and strength.
With gratitude,
Kataya Sykes
