Katalina's Fight Against Wilms Tumor

Katalina Hunter's story starts about a month ago when my mom Brandi found a lump on her side after a bath. My mom rushed her to the hospital knowing this was not normal. Katalina's life changed that evening. My sister was immediately admitted in the hospital. The doctors confirmed that Katalina had a malignant cancerous growth called Wilms Tumor. The tumor is located in her left kidney. The doctors wanted to remove her kidney with the tumor as soon as possible. Her first surgery was in the month of September. During the surgery the surgeons decided that her tumor was bigger than expected. The surgeon suggested that they should wait to take out the kidney. They confirmed that the tumor is in stage 3.

Currently Katalina is receiving chemo and radiation to make the tumor smaller. In October she will have a second surgery to remove her entire kidney. This has been devastating news to Katalina but also the whole family especially my mom.

Katalina is 2 years old. She is smart, kind, silly, and so precious to us all. This experience will change her life forever at such a small age.
