HELLO KAT13_

My name is John Alan Hulbert, I am an Actor, Creator, and Filmmaker based in Portland, OR and I am creating a short film that I’m hoping eventually I can make into something much bigger. It’s a crime horror thriller I like to call… KAT13_

I’ve been wanting to make my first short film with all the proper equipment, bells and whistles for quite some time. I’ve been working professionally as an actor for some years now, and I’ve always been enamored by my fellow peers and how they’ve brought their visions to life through the big screen. I’ve made a few movies on my own this past year with little to no budget, a camcorder, a phone, and many masks. However, KAT13_ is unlike anything I’ve ever made and it needs more of a budget and team in order to create the impact I would like the story to have and to hold.

THE STORY OF KAT13_

Mark, a child predator, wakes up bound and gagged, forced by a masked killer to face the consequences of his actions after attempting to meet Katie, a 13 year old girl he’s been chatting with online. Beneath the mask holds Hopper, a middle school art teacher with a strong heart for children, that poses as Katie online to lure child predators into her trap so that they may never get the chance to reoffend again.

Will Hopper allow Mark a second chance?

HELP ME MAKE KAT13_

In order to bring KAT13_ to life, I need a budget of $10,000 for the production, crew, equipment, locations, food, props, practical effects and (spoilers) sooo much fake blood. I need your help whether it be for any funds if willing and able, or sharing this project, truly any and all support is welcome and much appreciated. Any funds donated towards this project will earn your name in the credits as thanks for helping bring this story from the script to the screen. Upon completion of production, we will be submitting KAT13_ to film festivals all over the country and provide updates with how the short is doing. Once its festival run is over, I’ll premiere the short film for all to see.

We have a goal to begin filming in February/March 2025 once a budget and crew is locked in. This project’s casting process has been completed.
