Hi, I am Kat and I am currently raising funds to afford a rental car and other miscellaneous travel expenses to get myself and my dog, Jelly Bean, to a safe house in a different state immediately.

Since returning to DC in late 2021, I struggled to find work and healthcare access, and thus been unable to find a stable living situation to allow me to process the extreme emotional and psychological trauma I am still experiencing from my time here. I love this city and am grateful to many friends and acquaintances that have continued to support me the last year as I’ve tried to get back on my feet.

I have a friend with a room for me and Jelly in Kansas, and I need help transporting us out there. As I cannot take Jelly on a bus or train, and I do not want to give her up, I need to rent a car and drive us there in the next week.

I set my fundraising goal for $1500 - to cover three days of the rental car (approx $750), gas, and incidentals (food and tolls on the road). Please, please consider contributing so I can make this move happen - I am without the funds or family support to do this myself, but I am desperate to keep Jelly and avoid a homeless shelter, and I have job prospects and support in Kansas.
