On December 4th, Kasha and Travis welcomed a beautiful little girl, Ingrid Katharine, to the world -via cesarean. Shortly after Ingrid's debut, Kasha began severely hemorrhaging. Kasha was rushed to ICU where she continued to lose over 4 liters of blood (the human body has about 5 liters of blood). Travis and Kasha's sister, Ellie, were forced to watch from afar with a less-than-one-hour-old newborn baby as the doctors and nurses fought to get the bleeding under control and save Kasha's life. After many failed attempts, Kasha was given 4 blood transfusions and rushed back into the operating room to have her uterus completely removed. Kasha survived the surgeries. She was given a total of 10 blood transfusions over the next 48 hours. Her blood counts consistently came back unstable and low where doctors ordered additional CT scans to search for bleeding. They found woozing and some issues with her kidneys due to all the trauma. Kasha was then sent back into surgery where the urologist placed Stents to keep her kidneys functioning properly.
Kasha survived. She is here with us. But she and her family will need some help. Kasha's body has a long road of healing. Her body has to completely rebuild her blood supply which doctors are saying will take about 12 weeks to do. She is very weak and tired as her body works to mend itself. She undoubtedly needs all of Travis' time and help caring for the 3 girls (and dog). Kasha will be unable to work her own businesses for some time and will need to allocate all parts of the business until she is back on her feet. Travis will need to take off much more work than anticipated to be able to play Mr. Mom while Kasha heals. Kasha will also be receiving therapies and taking many supplements that are not covered by her insurance.
Let's help them this holiday season take off some of the financial burden. Both Kasha and Travis work very very hard and most definitely find it difficult to ask for help in trying times. Kasha has 3 little girls that need their Mama fully back.
