Kasey's Cancer Journey: Hope and Healing

My baby brother, Kasey Clements (24), is a sweet and dedicated local firefighter in Buhl, ID, and he has the biggest heart! He and his wonderful wife, Cierra, were devastated to learn Kasey has cancer - Stage 3 Hodgkin’s Lymphoma - last Christmas (2023). They’d only been married 7 months. He’s been battling it hard for a year now with lots of ups and downs, chemo, and other treatments. He’s had the greatest attitude through it all and is truly such a bright light and example.

Kasey and Cierra were right in the middle of remodeling a home when he learned he’ll be needing a stem cell transplant. It is scheduled to take place in a week (Dec 19th) and he begins intensive preliminary chemotherapy tomorrow morning.

They will be in Salt Lake City for 6 weeks as Kasey regains strength. The transplant will leave him very weak for Christmas. If you know Kasey, you know he is a die-hard Christmas enthusiast and usually dresses up for all of December! One of his cancer consultants found this out and made special arrangements for him to have a 2-foot Christmas tree to brighten his hospital room during his long recovery.

Kasey and Cierra will need a sterile environment to return home to in 6 weeks. Unfortunately, their home is currently gutted and needs to be finished, let alone sterilized! There are armies of local family, friends, and firefighters standing by ready to volunteer to finish their home - but we have little funding for supplies. Insurance only goes so far and the medical bills are also growing heavier by the day. They’re already going through so much and we want to lighten their load as much as we can. We want Kasey’s only concern to be healing and rebuilding his strength so he can get back to doing what he loves most - serving his community.
