My beautiful friend and college roommate, Kasey Carpenter, was diagnosed with breast cancer earlier this month. She is only 27 years old but she is a fighter.

It all started when she went in for testing for the BRCA gene due to the fact that her maternal grandmother was diagnosed at 28 and died from breast cancer. Her testing came back positive and she was then subject to multiple screenings and tests for each type of cancer associated the the BRCA gene. Her series of MRI's, Mammograms and Ultrasounds all came back abnormal which lead to a biopsy.

The biopsy resulted several precancerous tumors and cancerous calcifications in both breasts. The official diagnosis is Microinvasive mammary carcinoma.

Kasey is easily one of the strongest, bravest individuals I have ever met and we all know that she is going to come out on top of this. She has a long journey ahead of her but a double mastectomy is first on the list for her treatment plan.

She is scheduled for a bilateral mastectomy on June 13th.

Kasey needs help with her medical expenses and day to day life during her recovery. She will be unable to work for a minimum of 8 weeks without pay and is an equal provider in her household. Not to mention that the surgery has to be paid for upfront. Any donation will make a life changing difference to Kasey and her family during this difficult and terrifying time. She is beyond thankful and appreciative for the outpour of support and love that she has received. For that she is forever thankful.
