Karsyn's Cause (spina bifida surgery)

Donation protected
In September we found out we were going to have a new addition to our family! Faith was so excited to have a baby sister or baby brother, we couldn't wait to find out the gender.  We found the perfect house to fit our growing family and immediately put a contract on it getting more and more excited to find out what color we would paint the new nursery. On January 14th Nick and I found out that we would be welcoming a precious baby girl into our family, Karsyn. Along with this excitement came some terrifying news, we were told that our daughter has spina bifida starting in the L5 area of her spine. In that moment our whole lives were flipped upside down we had no idea what any of this meant for the future of our family and specifically our little girl.  It has been a very long 2 weeks, but we have finally gotten some hopeful news. We qualify for an in utero surgery to go in and close the lesion on Karsyn's back to prevent further damage to her nerves.

Having the surgery before she is born decreases her chances of needing a shunt by 50%. Greatly increases her chances of being able to walk without assisting devices, and being about to run and play with her big sister.

This is wonderful and so scary all at the same time. After this surgery I will be on very strict bed rest until I deliver which is usually at 34 weeks, but hope to make it until 37 weeks. I can only get out of bed to use the restroom, shower, and go to weekly appointments to make sure everything is going smoothly.  I will be out of work from the time the surgery is performed February 26th until about 9 or 10 weeks after delivery. This puts me out of work anywhere from 5 to 6 months.

For Nick and I this is not only emotionally stressful but also financially stressful, with having all of the tests to qualify, the traveling back and forth, and expenses of the surgery. We are humbly requesting a monetary contribution to assist in covering not only the day to day expenses, but also to cover the long term expenses of the months of appointments to come. We will greatly appreciate anything you wish to contribute even if it is not monetary and is just you prayers and words of encouragement. The only thing we can do is keep praying and stay strong for one another, Faith and Karsyn! We will post updates and keep everyone informed. Any money unused after all expenses are paid will be donated to spina bifida research in Karsyn's name. Thank you and god bless.
