Hi, my name is Karmel and in September 2025 I was diagnosed with a Grade 2 oligodendroglioma, a type of brain tumour that worsens over time.

On 11th December 2025 I travelled to Beaumont Hospital, Dublin, to have life saving surgery under the care of Mr Kieron Sweeney. In January 2026, we received the biopsy results which confirmed that this particular tumour is currently incurable but can hopefully be kept stable with 30 rounds of radiotherapy and a year of PCV chemotherapy.
