Karlynns 3rd Battle

Donation protected
My name is Ashawnte, I am the mother to the most kind, sweet, smart, and funny little girl. Karlynn is 7 years old almost 8, she was diagnosed with T cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia when she was just 1 years old. We beat it after 2 1/2 years of chemotherapy. She remained in remission for close to two years before it came back right after her 5th birthday. So we fought again, this time with chemotherapy and a bone marrow transplant. I was lucky to be able to be her donor matching her 7/10. She was able to start school, make friends and have a normal childhood.
March 26, 2024 she relapsed again.. this time her doctors have told me her chance of survival is now 40% with it being rare for relapse after a transplant.. We are currently admitted at Children's and have no clue when we can go home. We have very limited income at the moment since I am at the hospital with Karlynn everyday and dad is at home with our 11 month old son with no help for him to be able to go back to work. We need help with our monthly bills, gas to and from the hospital, and food expenses. Anything extra we have always goes toward anything to make Karlynn happy and comfortable to keep her mind off being stuck at the hospital.

5/7/24- We are past our 29 day induction but due to her constant fevers, partial lung collapse, electrolyte Imbalance, and her not able to walk on her own anymore we are still admitted. We are heading into transplant in the next 2-3 weeks which means the gap to be at home is closing each day we are still here.. but we are close to the end. After transplant we may be here another 4-6 weeks depending on how Karlynns body handles this transplant.. I am not able to be her donor again since the lab did not get the blood work to the facility in time to check to see if I’m able to donate again so her real dad is the donor but he’s only a 5/10 match..

5/9/24- We received our admission date for transplant! We are also hoping to be discharged Monday, still working on walking on own and fluid intake. She has a bunch of pre transplant tests which are being done now so we don’t have to come back to hospital for any visits while we enjoy our time at home. She does have a fungal infection in her lungs so she is on antifungal medications and continues working to strengthen her lungs. Admission for transplant is May 23rd and transplant day is June 4th. She will get a series of chemo to make sure all her cells are wiped out and then after transplant we are told most kids bone marrow recover in 14 days. So we will be here possibly another month if everything goes well.
