Karl's emergency travel / repairs

NOTE: the "goal" is just an arbitrary number. I need a lot of things right now, and whatever is donated will be primarily used to help my mother cope with her recent diagnosis and if there's anything to spare, keeping my lights on at home / seeing my doctor / fixing the brakes on my household's only vehicle in the short term until my finances hopefully stabilize within the next few months.

I just found out my mother has cancer and the diagnosis is not looking good. I need to go and see her, not only for her comfort and happiness but to help get some of her affairs in order and to alleviate her of those burdens, regardless of her prognosis. She's elderly, alone, and isn't very good at taking care of herself, and I don't necessarily trust anyone else to do what's best for her, or at least make the wisest or most helpful choices.

My immediate goal is to fly down to see her as soon as possible and stay as long as needed to help out. I hate asking for help (who doesn't?) but I sincerely appreciate even the smallest bit of assistance or kindness right now and am truly grateful to the people who are offering. It means the world to me during this difficult time, and it's giving me hope, so thank you in advance for all of your compassion, even if it's just a few kind words.

P.S. The photo is of my mom's dog, who I will be caring for while she's in the hospital. And yes, he is the fattest dog you have ever seen. I promise I'm gonna walk him into shape while I'm down there.
