Karl’s COVID Recovery Fund
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Lydia Riggs and I am working with my friends from the local band Psycho Sasquatch to help our friend Karl Liebau who’s world was completely changed on July 28, 2021 when he was struck down by COVID. Many of you know Karl as Justin Tyme, and for those of you who don’t know him he is a passionate drummer, who lives and dies by music and moonlights as self employed engineer to help pay the bills. Sadly COVID has silenced his drums and paused his career while he struggles to regain his health.
On July 28th Karl went to the emergency room where he stayed for several days before a room was available to fully admit him, he spent 40 days in the hospital before he was transferred to a rehab/nursing facility, by this time he had lost nearly 70 pounds, his muscles atrophied, he had difficulty sitting up on his own and the hospital staff cut his beautiful hair off as he couldn’t take care of it himself. During his 39 days at the rehab facility due to his lack of insurance he received very minimal rehab and he was eventually released in October with a walker, a wheel chair, a tank of oxygen and no follow up medical care plan.
Karl is a very private person and not someone to complain about his situation and as an engineer his mindset is such that he tries to figure out the solution, but in this case, at this time in his life he needs help.
He is very fortunate his good friend, his ex-wife, Linda has been staying with him and helping him with his basic needs (cooking, cleaning and more importantly being a companion to him) but he is still on full time oxygen and relies primarily on his wheelchair to get around his home. He is fortunate to have a home but it’s also part of his problem he needs work done to accommodate his physical needs and he will need assistance with his medical bills as any savings he had are dwindling.
Karls immediate needs are a ramp to help him get out of the house, he needs some plumbing and modification work in his bathroom and he his kitchen is a disaster as it was damaged during one of the storms last year and he had to tear it out due to the water damage and had not fixed it prior to getting ill. He has found someone to put in a basic kitchen but the cost is taking away from his medical needs.
We are all very grateful Karl is still with us and praying for his recovery. Psycho Sasquatch is performing a benefit concert for him on the 11th and all proceeds will go to Karl but he has a long recovery ahead of him we are hoping in this season of giving you can further help Karl, any amount will help, and if you are in the local area and can donate time and labor to help get his home safe for him that would be amazing too.
On behalf of Karl (Justin Tyme) and all of us working to help him, we thank you and hope you have a very Merry Christmas and ROCK ON!
