Karli's Journey: Healing Her Broken Leg and spirits up!

Donation protected
On Tuesday, June 17th, my sister Karli was in a serious accident while helping my nephews drop in on a half-pipe. In true “Auntie Karli” fashion, she was there cheering them on and giving them confidence. Unfortunately, the moment ended with Karli dropping in, falling, and breaking her leg in three places: the tibia and fibula at the ankle, and the fibula again below the knee.

She was rushed to the hospital in Chelan, where she endured hours of intense pain before being sedated and stabilized. Later that night, she was transferred by ambulance to Wenatchee Hospital, admitted overnight, and underwent surgery on Wednesday, June 18th.

Karli is now facing a long and painful recovery. She’s dealing with severe nerve pain, and pain management continues to be a major challenge. She won’t be able to bear weight on her leg for at least five months, which means she’s unable to work—something incredibly difficult for someone as hardworking and selfless as she is.

If you know Karli Rae, you know she gives everything she has to the people she loves. She works as a paraeducator in the Hoquiam School District, waitresses at multiple places, provides caregiving, and even cleans homes—just to make ends meet and support her son in his academics and athletics. She’s always the first to help others, and now it’s our turn to help her.

This injury has not only taken away her ability to work her four jobs this summer, but it also comes with overwhelming medical expenses. Her Venmo karli-Rae-2 is also available if that’s easier.

And if donating isn’t possible, your support still means the world. A call, a visit, a home-cooked meal, or just a kind message to lift her spirits can go a long way. Our goal is to surround her with the love and care she gives so freely to others.

Please feel free to reach out to Brenda or Kate if you have any questions or would like to help in any way. Let’s show Karli just how loved she is as she starts this journey toward healing so she can hike Enchanted Valley someday! That’s her goal!
