Karl-Heinz Nagel: Supporting Guadalupe School Callao

Dear friends, family, and kind-hearted supporters,

We are reaching out to you in memory of our beloved father and grandfather, Dr. Karl-Heinz Nagel, a man whose life was defined by generosity and a commitment to making the world a better place through excellence in engineering. Karl was deeply moved by the mission of the Santa María de Guadalupe School in La Perla, Lima-Callao—a beacon of hope for 350 children from the poorest and most broken families in one of the most conflictive neighborhoods of Lima, Peru.

The school, led by Padre Matteo of the Cooperatores Veritatis de la Madre de Dios Congregation, provides free education to children aged 3 to 17 who face unimaginable hardships, including having parents incarcerated. Despite these challenges, the school offers these children a chance at a brighter future.

Karl first connected with Father Matteo in 2022 and immediately felt drawn to this vital project. In 2023, he donated the windows for the school’s first floor. Later, when Father Matteo shared concerns about slope instability threatening the safety of the school grounds, Karl’s passion as an engineer was ignited. Stabilizing this slope became one of his most heartfelt wishes—a dream he hoped to see fulfilled for the school he cared so deeply about.

As his family—his three children Nathalie, Florian, and Sandra—and grandchildren Finn, Yannick, Sophie, and Phoebe—we are committed to honoring Karl’s legacy by continuing his work. We invite you to join us in fulfilling his dream and ensuring the safety and future of this remarkable school. Your contributions will go directly toward stabilizing the slope and safeguarding this educational space for generations to come.
