Karla was my dog, and I am raising funds after losing her on 9/20/26 at 9:50 PM. She was the most lovable, amazing, outgoing girl I have ever met. Watching her fight so hard to be with us, spend one more night with us, and watch the sunset was heartbreaking, and I will always hold onto that memory.
Everything started when Karla had a gash in her lower leg and needed surgery. After that, the wound was still bleeding, and when we took her back to primary care, we were told she would be okay. A few days later, she could not move her legs, so we rushed her to the ER. There, she was put on oxygen, and we learned she was anemic. After blood work and more testing, they found that her platelets were low, which meant she could not clot properly, and she needed plasma.
We did everything we could for her. During treatment, Karla coded and came back. Karla received intensive monitoring, testing, and plasma, and for a moment it looked like she was doing better. When we brought her home, she was eating, sleeping, and seemed ready to be herself again. Then the next day, on Sunday 9/20, she started having seizures that we could not control. We rushed her back to the ER that night, and the doctors think her seizures may have happened because she did not fully recover from that code. The doctor gave us an impossible decision, and everyone in our family came to say goodbye. We wanted her to rest and have a peaceful transition because we could not bear to let our baby suffer.
Karla's care came to about $11,000, and I am asking for help with those medical bills as well as her cremation costs. Any donation, no matter the amount, would mean so much to me and my family. If you are not able to give, sharing Karla's fundraiser would also help us tremendously. Thank you for helping us honor her and get through this painful loss.
