About Karla’s Coffee Cart
"Karla's Coffee Cart started with an idea.
Serve delicious specialty coffee beverages from a mobile coffee cart. "
Hola!
My name is Karla and I am the owner of Karla's Coffee Cart.
I am currently a DACA recipient and an immigrant from Honduras.
I have always loved coffee since I was a little girl, and after working as a barista for many years around different LA coffee shops, I decided that I could start my own coffee shop, but not just any coffee shop, my very own mobile coffee shop.
I could make my own American dream come true, and with the help of DACA that was possible.
With little money and a lot of hard work, me and my husband Michael started working on my dream.
After months of research and saving every dollar earned from my barista job at the time, Karla's Coffee Cart was born.
We made it a goal to purchase the necessary equipment needed every month.
One month was the espresso machine, other month the coffee grinders, and so on we slowly but surely began to bring our coffee shop to life.
I also began to work on the coffee beverages I wanted to serve, lattes, cappuccinos, mochas, iced coffee, cold brew, hot coffee, teas, matcha, and baked goods.
Soon, I also added my best seller Horchata Cold Brew and Spanish Latte.
The name and the bright pink cart color was chosen by my husband, he said everyone needed to be able to see the cart from far away.
July 2019 was our very first time opening for business in the Silverlake Dog park, soon we moved to Echo Park Lake and created our own schedule to serve coffee every Friday to Sunday 8am-6pm at the park.
The Los Angeles community welcomed us and soon enough the Echo Park Community also followed.
It's been hard work, very hard work but also it's been a blessing to be able to create something that began as a simple idea and see it become a reality.

However, with the Covid-19 Pandemic, I had to temporary stop my business , to comply with the California's Stay At Home Orders.
The pandemic has been an unexpected event and has caused my business a lot of harm.
After months of being closed and with no revenue generated, maintaining my business alive is all I care about at the moment.
Your donation will help pay past due bills that have accumulated over the past months, help with storage rent fees for the cart , help us purchase a used pickup truck to tow our cart, and also help with finding new ways to maneuver my business in the upcoming months.
I am not sure how long the pandemic will affect my business, but I do know I have to find a new way to keep my business alive during this time.
I appreciate your support, kind words and time.
I hope to soon be back and serve you my very best cup of coffee.
With Love,
Karla
