While on vacation at the Grand Canyon, our dear friend Karla went into premature labor at just under 6 months pregnant due to a severe UTI. This led to her baby boy being born at around 26/27 weeks gestation. After being helicoptered to the nearest hospital in St George, Utah, they are both currently stable.  Karla resides in San Diego, CA, however, she will need to stay in Utah until she can get free from infection and until her sweet boy can be released from the hospital, which will likely be at least 2-3 months in the future.  She is also there with her daughter who is 20 months old. Her mom is currently with her but will need to leave in just a few days and her husband, Jorge, will join her soon. This dear family does not have the savings to cover this kind of emergency.


We are requesting that those of you who know and love Karla and Jorge or if you know and love someone who knows and loves them to please contribute to this fund. Karla will be out of work for this entire time and probably some time after and Jorge will also be out of work for a good portion of the time. The funds will be used to offset their loss of income, for their temporary housing and food, for transportation in and around the town they are in, for immediate family to come to and go to support Karla when Jorge can't be there and for childcare for their 20 month year old while Karla goes into the NICU to be with their baby boy. There may be a need at the end of their time in Utah to seek funds for medical costs not covered by their insurance. We will inform you all at that time.
