Hello, my name is Karla!

Over the past year, I’ve spent the majority of my savings on medical bills, including a recent arthroscopy surgery and cartilage biopsy so my surgeons could assess the severe degeneration in my knee. I am currently disabled, unable to walk properly, drive, or live independently. The pain and immobility have drastically impacted my quality of life.

On July 30th, I’m scheduled for a life-changing surgery on my knee! Better days are ahead of me. The surgery is a total reconstruction including a double osteotomy (femur and tibia), cartilage transplant, ligament reconstruction, and bone marrow aspiration. Without this complex procedure, I will likely lose full use of my leg before the age of 30.

This upcoming surgery is my only chance at regaining function and living without chronic pain. But I am still $6,000 short of the total costs, which include:

Surgical expenses not covered by insurance

Recovery equipment and medications

Being out of work while I heal and relearn how to walk
