Hello! I’m Karl, a 20 year old Computer Science student at Clemson University, and was recently involved in a bicycle accident on my way to class. The bike lane ended, and I was forced to divert to the sidewalk. While avoiding passerbys, my front tire got stuck between the dirt and the sidewalk, forcing me over the handlebars. The impact was absorbed completely by my front teeth, shattering them. I was extremely fortunate that nothing worse happened, especially considering how close I was to the road.

The next step was to get the teeth reconstructed, however, upon getting the estimate of about $10,000, my family and I were concerned about next steps and how this circumstance would affect both my parents (a teacher and a bus driver) and I financially. Since I am already paying for most of my college and living expenses, contributing to this financially would have required major sacrifices on top of the already huge sacrifices that my parents already made to get me to where I am. Major sacrifices to quality of life, my graduation and my parents were on the horizon, until the incredible community I grew up in decided to help.
