Karl Miller’s Legacy - Moving Forward
Donation protected
This is a fundraiser to honor our dear friend, Karl Miller, by supporting his passion to help the underserved tennis communities in this area. Funds raised will benefit EMPACT Tennis, the organization where Karl donated so much of his time and energy.
Many of us enjoyed Karl’s friendship and camaraderie, on and off the courts, and benefited from his extensive tennis knowledge, enthusiasm for the game, and precision stringing services. There are countless stories about Karl’s acts of kindness. But, what you may not know about is Karl’s commitment and dedication to underserved tennis communities, the way he encouraged kids coming through the EMPACT tennis program, and how he mentored kids who showed promise for the game of tennis.
EMPACT is an organization that, among other services, teaches underserved children and adults the best game out there - tennis! Karl played an instrumental role in EMPACT’s strategy and business development, onboarding and mentoring kids, in addition to stringing their rackets at cost. One kid in particular has been participating in EMPACT’s tennis program for under 3 years and is already ranked 40th in the state. Karl recognized that the promising athlete needs more support and was exploring ways to introduce this talented athlete to The Chapel Hill Tennis Club so that he will receive the lessons and junior tournament experience he needs to further develop his game.
How can you help? In a time where sports programs are being cut from schools and communities, please consider making a donation to this organization to honor Karl’s memory and make tennis available to everyone. Funds raised will be used to:
- Subsidize a CHTC membership and lessons for the above-mentioned talented teen player.
- Help EMPACT Tennis purchase more equipment, so that they can meet the increased demand from new students. The equipment wish list includes portable nets, a ball hopper, ball mower and a portable ball machine.
Thanks for reading, and Karl, thanks for bringing your many tennis communities together for a worthy cause. We miss you Karl. “Outside.” “Foot fault.” “Treeing.” And other Karlisms.
