I am writing to ask for help for a dear friend, Karl King, and his beautiful wife Kaydene.

On February 7th--just three days after his birthday--Karl suffered a devastating stroke with a bleed on his brain. The following day he coded and lost oxygen in his brain for 6 minutes.  Afterward, he was placed on a ventilator for 7 days, and then a tracheotomy and PEG was placed once the hospital was able to wake him.

Because Karl was without oxygen for 6 minutes, he suffered traumatic brain injury, and the road to recovery will be very long. He had to learn how to breathe on his own again, how to eat (and has only recently started eating pureed food instead of a feeding tube), is still working on how to talk, sit up, and walk again, and the list goes on.

Karl has been in hospitals and rehabilitation centers since February gaining the care he needs, which has been 5 months without being able to work and provide for his family. Additionally, Kaydene has been by his side every moment and has had to go on FMLA without pay to help Karl. The medical bills have been pouring in for the Kings, on top of everyday living expenses such as rent, utilities, phone bills, etc.

Please consider helping this loving couple through a very difficult time.
