Karis to Jonathan's House (C.A.R.)

Hi! My name is Karis. I’m 17. For the past 4 years God has given me an increasing burden to serve children in hard places. I’ve been able to do that occasionally, but it seems that God is opening a door for me to do more in the near future.
OPPORTUNITY
For the past 18 months, I’ve known about Jonathan’s House, an orphanage and school, in the Central African Republic (C.A.R.). My parents have known the director, Donna Bixby, for 25 years and are good friends with her brother Tim who is a missionary in France. For eight weeks this spring (4/8-6/1), I have an opportunity to assist Donna and to learn under her as an intern, caring for about fifty orphans in this gospel-centered ministry. My dad will be traveling with me to CAR and will spend several days helping me get settled and will be participating in some leader Bible training with some of the men who serve at the facility. The last few days of my time in Africa, Donna and I will be traveling together to South Africa where I will be assisting with childcare for a missions conference.
What can you do?
(1) PRAY
Pray for me. I desperately need your prayer in four areas. First, please pray that God will use me for eternal good in the lives of the orphans I care for. Second, pray that God will show me if this type of ministry is what He is calling me to in my future. Third, pray for my health and safety–malaria is common in C.A.R., and I’m a “mosquito magnet.” Fourth, please pray for travel logistics, especially visas and required immunizations.

(3) SUITCASES & SUPPLIES
I need six old, large suitcases that I can fill with items that Jonathan’s House needs. Because we are going on humanitarian tickets and visas, we are allowed 3 large suitcases each which we will fill with items that Jonathan’s House needs but can’t obtain in CAR. These suitcases will be left in Africa. Donna has given me an Amazon wish list of needed items. These items can be purchased and mailed to me directly to be packed for the trip.
