Kari’s ICU fund

Hello, this is Keegan, Kari's husband. I am writing this on behalf of Kari. On Saturday night Kari woke up and couldn’t breathe. Kari suffers from asthma so it’s not uncommon for her to have trouble breathing but this was something she had never experienced before. I immediately got her in the car and took her to the ER. Our ER visit began at 4 am Sunday. We stayed in the ER for a couple of hours as they tried to get her breathing stable. The ER had done everything they could so they transferred her to the TCU (transitional care unit) where she was given more breathing treatments. During this time at TCU she had a respiratory therapist and a pulmonary doctor working very hard to help open her airways so she could breathe. She would improve for a short period and then go right back to where she was before. These doctors decided that she was struggling so hard to just breathe that she needed more help in the form of a BiPap machine. This machine is designed to push the air into the airways and essentially do the breathing part for her. Once again it helped for a short period and then she couldn’t breathe again. At about 2 pm on Sunday, she was admitted to the ICU so they could monitor her more closely and give her stronger treatment. She is still on the BiPap machine and going through breathing treatments every hour or so. We stayed our first night in the ICU Sunday night with very little improvement. She is exhausted and scared thoughts and prayers are much appreciated. We are looking at having to stay at least 2 more days, but she will be out of work for longer and her husband is also off work and trying to care for her. If things don't improve doctors said she will have to be sedated and put on a ventilator until she can breathe on her own again. Please give anything you can to this amazing little family during this extremely difficult and unexpected time. Anything helps and is more than appreciated.
