Kari’s Health Journey

Donation protected
My name is Alicia, a close friend to Kari. At Kari’s birthday party on Oct 4 she shared with a few close friends one of her hopes for this year was to see some breakthrough in her health - as friends we immediately believed with her and want to rally together to see her get the help she needs.

Kari has been a missionary and volunteer with Youth With a Mission (YWAM) since 2016 and has a passion for maternal and child health. She is trained as a registered nurse and a birth assistant and has used these skills and passions to serve in many different nations for the last 7 years. She is currently volunteering in Kona, Hawaii, serving moms and babies, assisting with births and doing ultrasounds at a local pregnancy center. She loves bringing hope to mothers who have found themselves with an unexpected pregnancy and she loves bringing encouragement and safety to women who would otherwise labor and birth alone or without care, especially in developing nations. She wants to see transformation in maternal and child health throughout the world, by bringing the hope and healing of Jesus.

But these things have become more difficult as her health has gotten worse.

Kari has had chronic health issues for nearly 25 years and was given a potential diagnosis of Lyme disease, but this was never confirmed. Her symptoms began with headaches and migraines, which progressed to fatigue, malaise, joint pain, digestive issues, sleep difficulties and much more. She has learned to manage these things and live a fairly normal life, despite constant pain and fatigue. Then, about one year ago, she became increasingly unwell and was diagnosed with postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome (POTS) and life has been even more of a challenge since then. Over the years she has been to countless doctors- some who have helped her manage symptoms and others who have had no answers at all.

Along this journey, an integrative and holistic medical clinic was recommended to her by a friend, who had recently received her own treatment there. This medical facility is called Bioadvanced Medical Center, located in Tijuana, Mexico. After reading the website, listening to many testimonials, and seeking the Lord, she has decided to go there for treatment and the hope of healing. Their goal is to help the body heal itself, as it’s designed to do, rather than fix symptoms with medication. They will create a treatment plan specific to what her own body needs by using a variety of treatments such as nutrition and detox, homeopathics, IV therapy, ozone therapy, stem cell therapy, platelet rich plasma injections, and so much more.

Medical Costs at this clinic: $5000
Flights: $1200
Hotel: $600
Food: $500
Transportation (taxi, Uber): $300
unknown costs: $400

Kari is one of the most generous, kind, sacrificial, and thoughtful women we know. She serves with such joy and dedication, skill and wisdom.

Would you stand with us to help send Kari to Mexico - she would never ask for this on her own, but deserves a chance to heal and get some long awaited answers!
