Karin's Eagle Project
Donation protected
Eagle Project Description: Four boot brush station units will be built and distributed to 4 different trailheads—
two will go to the Erwin Wildlife Management Area (EWA), one will go to Spencer Crest, and one to
Tanglewood Nature Center.
Species that are non-native can do a lot of damage to ecosystems. They cause harm to native
species of both plants and animals in many ways—crowding out other species via increased
competition, increasing erosion, decreasing water quality, reducing tree canopies, and increasing
wildfire risks are some of the main issues invasive species can cause.
The boot brush stations are meant to prevent the spread of invasive species to local outdoor
recreational spaces, and possibly even other nearby areas. By cleaning their boots before and after
they use a trail or other outdoor area, hikers can remove any potential invasive hitchhikers (seeds,
other plant remains, or potentially even insects), preventing them from being unknowingly transported
elsewhere and causing harm to other areas.
All funds will go towards Karin's Eagle project, helping to cover costs of needed materials. Thank you for your donations!
