Hello everyone,
I am doing this gofundme to raise funds to help my mom, dad and brother heal from their chronic and terminal illnesses.
Let me start from the beginning. My twin brother, Robert, has been battling Crohn's disease for over a decade now. After being diagnosed in 2007, he was hospitalized several times due to severe abdominal pain and blood in his stool. After unsuccessfully being treated with antibiotics, immunosuppressants and steroids (there's still no cure for Crohn's), he was forced to have an emergency surgery in June of 2017 and had 70% of his large intestine removed (otherwise it would have exploded due to too much abcess in his intestines, most likely being fatal). After the first surgery he had to wear an ileostomy bag for a year in order to let his wounds heal. In November of 2018 he had his second and hopefully last surgery reconnecting his intestines together and removing the bag. He began Remicade infusions after the 2nd surgery in order to stay in remission. Unfortunately, his symptoms returned (perianal fistulas, blood in stool, diarrhea) and we started researching for new treatments. There is currently a new treatment in Europe that incorporates stem cell therapy to treat perianal fistulas and other side effects of Crohn's (The treatment costs roughly $50,000). Our goal is to heal him completely and with this and other new developments in medicine and technology we are hopeful that very soon my brother will be healed from this chronic disease.
Shortly after my brother's first surgery in 2017 , my mom, Karine, was diagnosed with Stage 4 lung cancer which had metastasized to her bones. The metastasize caused her left hip to fracture and she had difficulty walking and severe back pain. After doing a lot of research, we decided to do targeted therapy for the tumor in the lung (which attacks only the cancer cells) and radiation for the bone mets (only 2 weeks, as too much radiation is counterproductive), followed by few alternative treatments that we did on our own (CBD oil, ALKALINE diet, supplements, etc.) The alternative treatments are all out of pocket and cost roughly $4,000/month. Thank God, the combination of treatments have been working and my mom has been getting better (tumor has shrunk by more then 50%), but she is still not healed completely and will need to continue doing all of the treatments (especially the alternative ones, as they have showed great results). Again our goal is to heal her and make sure the cancer won't comeback.
As if all of this was not enough suffering for my family, my dad, Ashot, was diagnosed last week with liposarcoma which is a rare type of cancer that develops in the fat cells. The good news is its low grade, has not spread and can be removed through surgery. The tumor is in his left upper thigh and measures 9x21x11cm. He is scheduled to undergo surgery this week on Sept. 12th and will be recovering for several weeks.
I ask you at this time to help out anyway you can so that we can make sure my family gets the necessary treatments that each of them needs in order to heal and live a long, happy and healthy life.
Thank you very much!
