Hello, my name is Daniela I am Karina's sister, and we wanted to reach out to our friends and family due to unforeseen challenges my sister and her family are facing. Last year Karina was diagnosed with stage 3 aggressive invasive ductal carcinoma breast cancer, this diagnosis was devastating but my sister knew that for her family she had to be strong and go through with what has been the most challenging time in her life. She has gone through one of the most aggressive forms of chemo for 5 straight months, last month she thought it would be her last session and had a mastectomy performed. Unfortunately her last biopsy report came back with the heartbreaking news that she now also has cancer in her thyroid. Even after battling for 5 hard months and raising three young children during debilitating treatments, this family, although exhausted is still willing to fight and cannot give up. I have been staying with my sister these past few months and have witnessed her going through all this, and it breaks my heart that this is happening to such an amazing, kind, loving, selfless person. There are days when she gives instructions as to what would happen if she were not around for her children….even through all this, she still puts them first. Karina is a mother, daughter, sister, wife, and friend and has been the best in all. We ask for our community’s help. Unfortunately, due to the more recent news we have received of the last unsuccessful chemo and that a new treatment will be needed for 1 year this is now affecting the family financially; insurance is not covering everything and we are hoping to take some of this burden off of this family’s hands.
