Our favorite Gryffindor, Karina, Rivera, was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia last week and has a long battle ahead of her. yesterday she received the devastating news that she has a mutated gene of the leukemia that makes it so her body will not make normal white blood cells without a bone marrow transplant. This means that she has to do a more intense form of Chemotherapy on top of the treatment that she is also doing, a bone marrow transplant, and will be on antirejection medication to help her heal.

Karina has a beautiful family. She and her husband Connor have a 15 month old son who is the cutest guy on the planet. We are needing to raise funds for them to help pay their medical bills and to help ease the burden of the long road ahead. Wes needs her around to raise him, love him, and continue to be a part of his life.

Karina is a true Gryffindor. She is brave, full of courage, and has lots of determination. She is an optimist and always tries to see the best in everyone around her. She is thinking as positively as she can and we are here to help keep her thinking positive.
