Kari, is my lifelong friend and sister, who is fighting metastasized breast cancer that is now stage 4 liver cancer.
Raising funding to move Kari from her family’s current home on Vancouver Island to the Lower Mainland to be with all of her family is extremely important. Kari’s husband Terry, who is working on the Lower Mainland and living with family, is only able to travel home to the Island once a month. Kari’s wish is to have her whole family in one community so as a family they can support her, create precious family memories, enjoy family times and be closer to the Cancer Treatment Center in Abbotsford.
Moving to the Lower Mainland will give Kari the comfort and support of having all her family together under one roof and in one community. It will also mean she can live closer to her son Devin’s family in Abbotsford and spend time with her grandchildren that bring her such joy and happiness.
Kari has long road ahead, I am asking you to donate to bring support and joy to this wonderful generous kind hearted woman, who has been a volunteer to so many causes throughout the years.
Kari and her husband Terry are looking for a 3 bedroom rental for a family of 4, the two of them and their 2 two children Shandel and Jarid. Kari’s family needs financial support to assist with moving costs, switching utility, cable and internet services to a new location if need be, security deposit and first and last months rental fees.
Kari would like to start Homeopathic treatment, which is not covered under medical, for pain and exhaustion to improve her quality of life, she is fighting the battle of her life for her life.
Kari’s Story
Almost 2 years after I battled breast cancer and boom I end up in hospital because of excruciating pain in my right side. Doctors do their tests and more only to find out the cancer has metastasized to my liver, Stage 4. I spent 10 days in the hospital for pain management while waiting for a biopsy and bone scan, only to confirm yup there is a fair size mass at the bottom of my liver. Feeling scared, anxious and dread all at the same time and these feelings have grown 10 fold with every passing day and now the 2.5 week wait to start treatment.
Having to stop all my Psoriatic arthritis meds, has put my body in such intense pain all the time and I haven't even started chemo yet. My whole being has changed mentally, physically and dietary.
My mental state has brought on intense bouts of nausea or just not wanting to eat, this is all before chemo, that comes with its own symptoms and impact on my appetite and body.
What I know is that this diagnosis has me receiving many different treatments and not one is a cure if at all. This is where I'm scared, the Warrior in me will fight damn hard one day at a time with hope they can control and shrink this nasty cancer in me.
Thank you for taking the time to read Kari’s story. We appreciate any thing you can donate to the cause. All will help get Kari’s family to be together in one community at this most precious time. This is for all of them, they need each other, to be supporting their mother, creating love and memories.
