Support Kari Burkett's Road to Recovery
Donation protected
In early October, my mother, Kari Burkett, was watching my son Jett at our home in Jupiter. She spent the day with him as she did every Tuesday and Wednesday since he was born. After putting him down for a nap, she never came back into the room. Just outside the nursery, immediately after putting him down and kissing him goodnight, she collapsed as she had a severe hemorrhagic stroke.
With the help of neighbors and family, we were able to get her to Jupiter Medical Center where she stayed for over 4 weeks and rehab for 2 more. Doctors did not think that she would recover whatsoever, let alone survive. With the power of prayer and my mom’s willingness to prove all wrong, she has made an incredible recovery thus far.
The fight is not done yet as there is a long road to go, unfortunately, for my mom to get back to her new “normal.” We are having to renovate my parents' house to make it ADA compliant, as well as pay for outside nursing and home care that insurance doesn’t cover. My father is an amazing man. He would never feel comfortable asking for anyone’s help, that is why I started this GoFundMe to ask for any assistance possible as this has become quite heavy on our family. With my brother and I supporting as well but both having children at home, the cost has become much higher than we can keep up with.
We kindly ask for anything you can give and know that it will be going directly to get my mom back on her feet. She has spent her whole life giving the shirt off her back for anyone that needs it; we hope at this time people can help as much as she would help them.
Thank you.
