Karen's stroke recovery

Donation protected
On Wednesday, November 15, 2023, Karen suffered a stroke at work. She was taken to and treated at a local Outer Banks hospital within 30 minutes, and then airlifted to a larger hospital in Chesapeake, VA for additional care.

Karen's mental faculties are intact, she has good cognition, speech and swallowing but there is paralysis on the right side of her body. She's already working hard and making progress to regain function with physical and occupational therapy. Soon she will be moved to an inpatient physical therapy facility for a couple of months.

The doctors are optimistic, but the reality is that her recovery will be a long road.

Karen is married to my brother Ben and they have the most precious boys Donovan (13) and Benjamin (almost 11). Karen is selfless, kind and caring. She is the first to help in any situation, and now she and her family need our help.

Any donations you are able to give will go toward uncovered medical expenses and loss of income for her time away from her job as a Kindergarten teacher, which she is very committed to. This financial support will take some of the stress off of Ben & Karen and allow them to focus on recovery rather than bills.

Thank you for keeping Karen in your prayers and sharing this message. She is moved by all of the love and encouragement she has received by so many of you already.
