Karen’s Kicking Cancer...yet again

Donation protected
In December 2017 my mom was diagnosed with stage 2 triple negative breast cancer.  She went through 16 rounds of chemo, a lumpectomy, 30 rounds of radiation and 8 weeks of an oral chemo twice a day totaling 448 pills.  After going through almost a full year of cancer treatments she was told she was cancer free!

On Monday February 11th she went in for a mammogram to make sure everything still looked good.  During her mammogram they found a lump and did a biopsy.  We hoped and prayed it would be nothing so we could continue her celebration of being cancer free.  Unfortunately, when she met with her oncologist she confirmed our fears that her cancer was back.  We are all stunned and confused as to how this can be happening and feel we are having a terrible case of Deja Vu.

My mom decided at her appointment, with her doctors recommendation, to undergo a bilateral mastectomy.  The doctor is concerned with how quickly the recurrence happened and called this a “bad actor”.

We still have a lot of unknowns and a lot of unanswered questions, but we know that cancer is a relentless disease that has no rhyme or reason as to when, where and why it strikes.

Most importantly, my mom is the strongest, kindest, most caring woman I know and she WILL beat this stupid disease once and for all - especially with her amazing support group (all of you) and her family right by her side.

With having to fight this a second time, having to take time off of work for surgery and all the stress and anxiety that comes with it, we want to do whatever we can to make this easier and less stressful on my mom.  With that being said I am asking for any donations that any of you are willing and able to give.  I am hoping that this can help lift a little bit of financial burden, stress and one less thing to worry about.   Any amount you can donate is much appreciated, even if it is only $1!

Anyone that knows my mom, knows how wonderful and caring and supportive she is and how she would never want to burden anyone or ask for help.  It took some assuring but convinced her to let me set this up for her.  We want her to know that since we can’t fight this battle for her, we will do whatever we can to fight this battle right by her side.

Again, we truly appreciate any contributions you can give, however if you are not able to help financially, we ask that you pray for more effective treatment, for strength, stress relief and ALL the things!  If praying isn’t your thing, positive thoughts and vibes sent her way are just as important!

We love you all and are beyond grateful to have you in our lives and the support you give during this trying time.
