Karen's Kancer

First, I want to genuinely thank you just for clicking the link to get here. Should you be willing to chip in, know that even a small amount will be part of a big relief. Bigger than finances, we've gotten to feel the impact of action and the warmth of emotional support; I cannot express how valuable it's been.
Recently my sister, Karen (absolutely no relation to your memes), went to the ER with a "stubborn little pain" in which she simply sought peace of mind for. Being only in her mid-30s, she never imagined what was to come. One week later, with many emotionally-taunting nights in the hospital, she received the official diagnosis: Stage 4 Colon Cancer.
Despite being classified as Stage 4, we are optimistic about treatment possibilities and hopeful for her cure. However, she will need a little help along the way, as she will inevitably accrue high expenses on top of the many days of work she and her husband will miss.
I wish I didn't have to set a "goal" on this platform, and our one true goal isnt even financial :-(. I don't know how many months or years her medical journey will last, and I have no idea how much of a financial struggle this will be, but I'm sure you can imagine some of the many challenges ahead for a small-business owner with three kids at home (ages 2mo to 7yrs). Regardless, we will be appreciative of however much we raise, so I'm starting with a small goal for now. Money donated here will help cover:
- Time off from work
- Supplements
- Possible travel (if needed)
- Supportive therapy
- Copays
- And of course, the giant hospital bills that are soon heading our way
These expenses will be ongoing for the duration of her treatments, so if you can commit to even a few bucks each paycheck, that's just as beneficial as a bigger 1-time amount.
Other ways to help include donating extra packs of diapers you may have (size 1 and up), supporting her business for marketing or printing projects, sharing this link, keeping her in prayer, or showing your "tumor humor" around her (she's the sister of a firefighter... I promise she won't be offended ;-).)
Thank you!
