Karen's Healing Journey: community support

On February 7th, 2025, Karen began experiencing weakness in her legs. Within a few days she became paralyzed below the waist and was hospitalized. After extensive testing it is became clear, her Cancer (Multiple Myeloma) had returned with a vengeance. She received radiation treatments and is currently in a rehab center in Oakland. Karen has been hospitalized for over 2 months.

But now we have the most exciting news!! Karen is soon to be released to return home. Life will be different. Karen is now confined to a wheel chair but is working hard to regain her strength. She has spent the past couple weeks learning how to transfer herself from the bed to the chair, how to do things we all take for granted everyday.

This fund is designed to assist the family with the loss of income and ease some of the stress so that the family can focus on healing and recovery. The family is currently working toward making the home more accessible for Karen. Ramps, safety bars, oh my!
