Ok, so here we go again...
At Karen's 3-6 month regular oncology check up (Late April) her oncologist recommended the new standard of care for mastectomy with implants is to do an MRI at 2-3 years instead of 8-10 just to check on the implants structural integrity.
They found a very small tumor in the same place as her 1st one. Good news, after CT scans, bone scans, and an MRI we know it’s nowhere else.
This is curable.
Karen is currently undergoing her second round of Chemotherapy which will most likely continue for a year.
Currently that is the plan. There are many many more surgeries, scans, radiation, pills, and medications ahead for her. Again we are all grateful this was found early.
She is doing pretty well all things considered.
We are all so grateful for the support she and her family have been receiving from so many of you -thank you!
While health insurance does cover some of the cost of treatment, Karen and her family are still burdened with significant out of pocket expenses for these treatments as well as other costs.
Any support you may be able to provide would be greatly appreciated during this difficult time.
