Karen’s 2nd fight against Breast Cancer!

Update- 3/21/23

Karen had her surgery and is recovering well. She had her second chemo treatment yesterday. It’s making her feel like she’s got the flu for about 4 to 5 days after the treatments. Karen decided she wanted to cut her hair before it started falling out. So last Friday we did! I’m going to try to upload the video. Please keep Karen and her family in your thoughts and prayers! Hi, my name is Laura and I’m Karen’s sister. Karen was diagnosed with Stage 1, ER+/PR+ Breast Cancer in October 2015, fought and won!! This past December, after 7 years in remission, she has been diagnosed again at Stage 3C. During the first round of cancer, it took most of their expendable savings and it has taken some time to rebuild with the other medical concerns the family has dealt with during this time. Now that the cancer has returned, the testing expenses will deplete their remaining savings. Going forward, she will have surgery and treatment to pay for over the next 7 to 8 months and will have to take some leave without pay after a while as well. She does have health insurance; however, we all know how that goes…it just doesn’t pay for it all.

Karen is married to Cody and they just reached their 25th anniversary this past October. They have a beautiful daughter together, Tristyn, who is currently in college.
