Hi everyone, my sister Karene was violently assaulted in her home in the early morning of May 5th, (one day after her birthday). The assault resulted in Karene sustaining a traumatic brain injury (TBI). Upon arrival at the hospital, she had immediate surgery to combat the bleeding in her brain. Two hours later she had to have a second surgery. This time they removed a significant portion of the right front of her skull. Karene had bleeding in the brain for almost 2 weeks. She experienced another stroke and began having seizures. We are seeing God's miraculous power every day through the doctors, and nurses and how He is strengthening Karene for this journey. So far, Mom has been traveling over 90 minutes each way to and from the hospital almost every day. Karene will be moved to a long-term facility to undergo inpatient acute rehab. The commute will be even longer and more challenging once she is moved to rehab. Mom would like to stay at the facility in family housing as much as possible to be closer to Karene. There is a nightly charge for family housing plus transportation and meals Mom would need while there. Your contributions, no matter how small will help the family pay for the housing costs, Karene's medical co-pays, and the legal fees associated with her conservatorship.
