Hello folks! This campaign is being started by myself and my sisters for the benefit of our sweet mom. Her loving work family, Youth For Christ (YFC), is also uniting with us. Our mother has lived her life unselfishly serving her family and others . Even through health struggles she has always put her concern for others before herself. Our intent for this campaign is to help provide financial support to hopefully relieve some of the pressure during this very difficult time.
Our mother survived a double lung transplant 6 years ago and is now in chronic rejection. She is weak, tired and fighting for strength. She is unable to work and in order for her long term disability to kick in, she has to go without a paycheck for 6 months. This 6 month timeline is beginning this week. Our father, her husband, is also unable to work as he is by her side, needing to care for her full time. The current situation is that mom has been admitted to Cleveland Clinic for care, to gain strength, and to determine if a second transplant will be a viable option. Since the waiting period is unkown and the post transplant recovery time is significant, we will be setting our goal for what we expect in the next 6 months.
Our current goal of $20000 is to cover 6 months worth of income, and assist with the cost of lodging and meals in Cleveland, and also help with medical expenses not covered by insurance. As needs change and we approach the 6 month mark we will update this page with any new goals and needs.
We truly appreciate all your prayers, love, and emotional and financial support. We couldnt do it without you. Thank you all.
Love,
The Hokenson Family (Henderson, Schneider, Therkildsen) and YFC Family
