Hi, my name is Karen Lopez and many of you know that I am a single mom of two wonderful boys now Washington who is 20 going to college and has a part-time job and my second baby Alejandro turned 18 and also planning to go to college in January. As you all know I have been sick for 5.5 years now and have been waiting for a kidney transplant for three years. On September 18th I received my most anticipated call at 9:45 PM and I came to the hospital, Miami Jackson Hospital, September 19 at 8 PM they were wheeling me into the operating room as my miracle was waiting for me. My surgery lasted seven hours and I officially got my second chance of life on September 20. Although I have been planning for this day for many years and many of my friends and family have always asked how can they help but I was still a working mother, I was still taking care of my house, my kid, going to dialysis for 2 1/2 years, and endless appointments for doctors but the time has come when I reach out to those who would care to help me at this time that I need the help to be able to recuperate and continue to provide for my family. My main goal has always been for my kids to have a normal life within the circumstances and I hope that these three months that I am going to be out in recuperation I can continue to provide that for them. Unfortunately due to illness and unexpected circumstances I had to take my short term disability benefits earlier this year (oct-Jan) and when I got my call, what can I say I couldn’t turn it down so now I turn to family and friends and if anyone can help in anyway I would greatly appreciate it. All money that is collected through this fund will be strictly for bills and for food. To all my prayer warriors, please continue to keep me in prayer and lift me up every day. Thank you all who have been there in my journey who have read my post, who have prayed for me, who have cried with me, thank you all for for those who have supported me.
