Hi everyone! I’m CJ, and I never thought I’d have to create one of these and share the story about someone I love so much. My aunt (Lynn) and I have decided to make this GoFundMe for my mother, Lynn’s sister, Karen.

My mom is 54 years old, and she was diagnosed with breast cancer.

In mid-March, abnormalities were found in my mom’s mammogram. This led to more testing and eventually two biopsies. Everything ended up coming back positive for breast cancer. My mom will need a single mastectomy, but may not need to go through chemotherapy and radiation. We will find out closer to the surgery and after more testing. There will be two procedures for the mastectomy, so there’s a lot of recovery time ahead. The first procedure is in May, with the second one being months from now (TBD.) This process has been way too familiar to us because we lost my grandmother to breast cancer in 2013, after having it three times. None of us ever thought my mom would have to go through this 10 years later.

Anyone who knows my mom, knows she has a kind soul and she is very hardworking. She never asks for anything. The time away from work is going to be difficult since she will not get full pay, while on disability. We don't want her to feel the need to use what little earned time off that she has left, for something like this. Our goal is to reduce her stress and to worry less. Cancer isn’t something anyone should face alone, and our healthcare system is…imperfect. I would like for everyone to come together for her as she always has for us. It’s always hard to ask for help, but she is so deserving. I would give this woman the world if I could. We want to make sure she has the smoothest, most comfortable, recovery possible.

Donations will go to any medical bills, medications, post-surgical needs, living expenses, lost wages, and any products that are necessary to help her recovery process. This is for both procedures.
